In addition to our core veterinary services, Coastal City Animal Hospital offers a range of supporting services to make your pet’s care as convenient and comprehensive as possible. From on-site dispensing of veterinary products to specialist referrals and in-clinic hospitalization, our goal is to provide everything your pet needs under one roof wherever possible. We are open Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm and Saturday to Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
On-Site Dispensing
We maintain an in-clinic supply of veterinary products, including flea and tick preventives, parasite control products, heartworm preventives, and veterinary-grade supplements. Having these products available in clinic means you can leave your appointment with everything your pet needs without a separate trip to an outside supplier. Products dispensed through our clinic are stored properly and authorized for use in Canada. We also offer an online store for convenient product reorders between visits. Specialist Referrals
Some conditions require the expertise of a veterinary specialist. When a referral is in your pet’s best interest, we coordinate the process from start to finish. We provide the specialist with a complete clinical summary, relevant test results, and imaging to ensure they have full context before your appointment. Specialist services available through referral include cardiology, oncology, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology, and dermatology. We remain involved in your pet’s primary care throughout the specialist process and are available for follow-up care after specialist consultations.
Hospitalization
When your pet requires monitoring or care that cannot be provided at home, we offer in-clinic hospitalization for dogs and cats. Hospitalized patients receive regular monitoring, vital sign checks, intravenous fluid support where indicated, and attentive nursing care throughout the day. We use hospitalization for post-surgical recovery, fluid support in dehydrated patients, and monitoring of acutely unwell patients. We communicate with you regularly throughout your pet’s hospitalization, providing updates and involving you in care decisions. Our team is present during all operating hours to monitor patients in our care.
In-House Glucose Testing
For dogs and cats managing diabetes, regular blood glucose monitoring is an essential part of ongoing care. We offer in-house glucose testing using a veterinary-calibrated glucometer, which is validated for cat and dog blood and provides more accurate results than human glucose meters. In-house testing allows us to monitor glucose levels and adjust management approaches as needed during regular appointments. We can also guide owners on how to monitor glucose at home as part of a comprehensive diabetes management approach.
