Paula

Clinic Manager

I’ve been passionate about working with animals for nearly two decades, starting in 2006. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to take on a variety of roles, including animal control officer, pet store manager, animal welfare attendant, and veterinary receptionist. Each position has deepened my love for animals and strengthened my commitment to their care and well-being. In 2022, my husband and I relocated to beautiful Nanaimo, where I began working at Coastal City Animal Hospital. I started as a receptionist and have since taken on the role of clinic manager, a position I’m proud to hold as I continue supporting both our team and the pets we care for. At home, life is happily busy with our three cats—Ducky, Opi, and Max—and our two small dogs, Bandit and Sully. When I’m not at the clinic, I love spending time on creative pursuits like graphic design, crafting, and baking.

Dr. Pannu

Veterinarian

Dr. Pannu is a dedicated and compassionate veterinarian with a strong background in small animal practice. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science from India in 2013 and went on to complete her Master’s in Veterinary Surgery in 2017. Following her post-graduate studies, she worked as a veterinary surgeon at a renowned hospital in India for three years before relocating to Canada in 2020. Since moving to Canada, Dr. Pannu has been practicing as a fully licensed veterinarian for over three years. She brings a wealth of experience in small animal care, with special interests in internal medicine, diagnostic imaging—particularly ultrasonography—soft tissue surgery, and building strong, trust-based relationships with clients through effective communication. Outside the clinic, Dr. Pannu is just as passionate about sports and the outdoors. A former national-level athlete, she represented her school and university in handball and javelin throw, earning multiple national medals. Today, she enjoys hiking, following her favorite NBA team—the Golden State Warriors—and unwinding with a good Netflix series.

Xin

Team Lead

I graduated from Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in 2018 and have been working with animals since then. I moved to the island and joined the Coastal City team in 2023. I am dedicated to working collaboratively with the veterinary team and ensuring the comfort and well-being of every animal under my care. At home I'm a very busy furry mom with 3 pets. My youngest is a mini goldendoodle named Pluto who enjoys exploring the nature in the summer and can just be a couch potato in the cold. His biggest challenge is to gain affection from his two cat sisters Bron and Pumpkin, but fails every time.

Taia

Veterinary Technician

Taia started working at Coastal City Animal Hospital in the fall of 2024 as a Veterinary Assistant and has loved being part of the team ever since. When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll usually find her out hiking, curled up with a good book, or running agility and canicross with her dogs. She shares her life with an energetic Australian Shepherd named Jäger, a clever Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever named Miura, three quirky cats, a curious rabbit, and a sweet senior horse she lovingly cares for.

Kamryn

Veterinary Technician

My name is Kamryn, and I’ve been working in the veterinary industry for just over three years. I began my journey at a feline-exclusive clinic, which gave me a deep appreciation for the unique personalities of cats—but having grown up with dogs, their playful energy will always have a special place in my heart. Currently, I’m working hard toward my goal of becoming a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. I have a strong interest in animal behaviour and nutrition, and have been involved with animals for as long as I can remember. When I’m not at work, you can find me studying or relaxing in the sun with my two cats and my dog. I’m incredibly grateful to be part of the team at Coastal City Animal Hospital, and I feel lucky to be learning every day from such a knowledgeable and compassionate group of professionals.

Jasmine

Everyday brings new opportunities to make a positive impact in their lives, and I am so grateful to work with such a compassionate team! Outside of work my favourite activities include going for hikes, walks, painting, or simply curling up with my cat and a good book!

Raya

Veterinary Assistant

Hi! My name is Raya and I joined Coastal City Animal Hospital in October 2024, and I absolutely love being part of the team. Every day brings something new to learn, and it’s a joy to grow in such a caring environment. Outside of work, I enjoy painting and doing DIY projects to create unique decorative pieces. I’m also a proud cat mom to two fur babies, Ace and Spade—they constantly remind me that love has no language. I cherish every moment I get to spend with them! ❤️

Laura

Veterinary Assistant

I’m a Veterinary Assistant and have been with the clinic since February 2025. I help with patient care, assist during exams and procedures, and support the team throughout the day. I’ve always had a passion for animals, which led me to this career. In my free time, I enjoy gaming, crocheting, and spending time with my cat, bunny, and partner

Elyse

Client Care Representative

Since 2015, I have been dedicated to providing exceptional client care as a vet assistant and receptionist. My passion for small dogs, especially chihuahuas and shih tzus, has led to my reputation as a “small dog whisperer.” As a mom to an amazing son, a senior chihuahua and 2 cats who keep me busy, I bring a nurturing touch to my work. I joined Coastal City Animal Hospital in March 2025, where I continue to focus on delivering compassionate care to our furry friends and their owners.
